Brain damage symptoms usually refer to an injury that results in the devastation of brain cells. Generally, there exist two types of brain injuries namely; traumatic brain injury and acquired brain injury.

Traumatic brain injury occurs when there is sudden damage to the head. It can make the brain move inside the skull from its place and often damages the brain. While acquired brain injury is related to pressure on the brain and thus occurs at the cellular level. It is caused by neurological illnesses or tumors. Both types of brain damage happen after birth only while there is another type of brain damage namely, the congenital brain damage that arises due to genetic reasons.

  • You can easily observe physical symptoms of brain damage as it includes paralysis, severe headaches, extreme mental and physical fatigue, weakness, tremor, seizure, etc.
  • Increased aggressiveness, impatience, reduced tolerance, sluggishness, etc., are some emotional symptoms of brain damage.

The brain is not only one of the most important parts of our body, but it is one of the delicate organs too. There are certain activities that you perform in your daily life and the result harms your brain. Let’s have a look at some of the brain damage habits and try to avoid them as much as you can:

  • No breakfast lowers down your sugar level and thus causes brain degeneration.
  • Excessive smoking and alcohol intake cause brain shrinkage and are the main cause of Alzheimer’s disease.
  • The intake of too much sugar creates a hurdle for brain development as it slows down the process of absorption of proteins and nutrients.
  • Experts usually suggest a sleep of 8 hours to make your body feel relaxed. Less sleep or long-term deprivation from sleep could result in the death of brain cells.
  • Covering your head while sleeping may result in an increment of carbon dioxide and reduces the supply of oxygen. This further leads to brain damage effects.

Thus, doctors suggest avoiding these habits and adopt some good habits that can make your brain strong and sharper.

Any individual who comes across a head injury must be given immediate medical treatment to prevent any mishappening. Not only severe brain injuries but a mild brain injury can be dangerous for a person. Thus, early diagnosis and good treatment are necessary to minimize the impact of any brain injury. There are different types of treatments that doctors do for different types of injuries. For instance, different types of therapies including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiological support, etc. 

But if in case you come across any of the symptoms of brain damage, you must not waste time and visit the doctor soon. This is because brain damage can further result in numerous life-taking problems.

Brain damage is not a common problem. It generally occurs due to accidents or some neurological problems. Besides this, brain damage may or may not occur with birth only. Therefore, you must never shake a child and try to wear a helmet during sports and seat belts driving. Also, excessive smoking, alcohol intake, and use of drugs can result in brain damage.
